Hoback Water Project

Project Background

As part of their ongoing effort to promote public health within the county, the Board of County Commissioners has directed the Teton County Health Department and the Department of Public Works to collaborate with the Teton Conservation District on the development of a stakeholder-led process aimed at addressing drinking water quality issues in the Hoback area.  This was in response to concerns raised by Hoback residents, members of the Teton District Board of Health, and the Teton Conservation District about increasing occurrences of bacterial and chemical contamination of water in both public and private water sources in that community.

During this stakeholder-led process, representative members of the Hoback community will meet several times to discuss the issue.  At the end of the meetings they will present a recommended course of action to the Board of County Commissioners.  It is the hope of the Board of County Commissioners that this process will not only help to ensure safe drinking water for residents in Hoback Junction but also serve as a model to be used in addressing other water quality issues around the county.
