Curb to Compost: Commercial food waste collection
Turn food scraps into savings... and make a difference

Collection is 50% OFF April 1, 2025 - March 31, 2026.
Running a kitchen, a business, or a school cafeteria means juggling a lot — and managing food waste can feel like just one more hassle. But what if composting was actually an easy option that could potentially even save you money?
That’s the idea behind Teton County’s Curb to Compost program. With USDA-subsidized curbside compost pickup for restaurants, stores, schools, homeowners associations and other facilities, it’s now more affordable to compost food scraps than throw them away.
By joining, your business or organizations can:
- Save money on garbage bills;
- Reduce environmental footprints;
- Keep valuable materials out of the landfill; and
- Get personalized startup support to make composting easy.
The more businesses and facilities that join in 2025-26, the more likely our community can keep collection prices low even after the grant ends. So if you know a restaurant, store or organization that’s been thinking about composting, now’s the perfect time to encourage them to get started.
Thank you for being part of the solution and choosing to compost!

8 GREAT REASONS
To compost food scraps ... in your commercial kitchen, restaurant, school, office building or subdivision
Reduced Waste:
Composting diverts organic waste from landfills, minimizing the amount of trash sent to the landfill in Idaho.Cost Savings:
By reducing trash, businesses and organizations can lower waste disposal fees. New pricing makes it cheaper to compost food waste than to send it to the landfill. If Teton County can meet its goals in onboarding new Curb to Compost clients in 2025-26, reduced pricing will remain in effect.Enhanced Brand Image:
Embracing composting demonstrates a restaurant's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.Attracting Environmentally Conscious Customers:
Many of Jackson Hole's consumers and visitors actively seek out businesses that prioritize sustainability, making composting a valuable marketing tool.Improved Soil Health:
Composting creates nutrient-rich soil products for landscaping and gardens, improving soil fertility and promoting healthier plant growth.Reduced Methane Emissions:
Organic waste in landfills produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Composting diverts this waste, reducing methane emissions.Reduced Long-Haul Landfill Trips:
Unless it can be recycled or composted, all of Teton County's waste is trucked 100 miles to a landfill in Idaho. Composting keeps heavy organic waste out of the trash, meaning fewer truckloads, saving fuel, lowering emissions, and reducing road wear.Being part of the community solution:
Approximately 12% (3,951 tons ) of Teton County's waste going to the landfill each year consists of usable organic or mulchable waste. Food scrap composting goes a long way toward helping the valley reach its Road to Zero Waste JH goal of 60% waste diversion by 2030.
