Batteries

The Recycling Center accepts batteries, even when (especially when!) they look like this...

Damaged Lithium Ion Battery
Damaged Lithium Ion Battery

Please drop them off at the Recycling Center during office hours (9-5, M-F) to be properly and safely stored.

Batteries

Accepted Batteries

Includes: Alkaline Batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, etc.), Small Lithium Batteries, Rechargeable Batteries, Laptop Batteries, Vehicle Batteries (Lead-Acid)

  • All of the above may be taken to the Recycling Center office at Adams Canyon Road.

  • Battery drop-off is available 24/7 via the shelving unit next to the Recycling Center office, except for compromised or leaking batteries, which must be dropped off during business hours for safe handling.

  • Automotive lead-acid batteries should be left at the office, or placed near the battery bins if after hours.

  • Some items may have a small fee to help offset the cost of safe transport and disposal.

  • Never place batteries in the trash—they are a major fire hazard and are banned from the Trash Transfer Station.

Not Accepted: Large Lithium Batteries

Includes: E-Bike Batteries, Golf Cart Batteries, Lithium Car Batteries

  • These cannot be accepted by Teton County.

  • Most of these can be returned to the retailer or manufacturer where the bike, cart, or vehicle was purchased for proper recycling.

  • These batteries should never be placed in the trash, as they pose a significant fire and environmental risk.

Safety Reminder

  • All batteries, including small lithium, alkaline, and automotive, should be disposed of properly.

  • Improper disposal can lead to chemical leaks, fires, and equipment damage during transport or landfill operations.

Drop-off location: Teton County Recycling Center (Adams Canyon Road)
